TWO Wirral musicians took full advantage of lockdown by getting together to record a debut album.

Without regular live gigs to keep them occupied, many looked for alternative ways to keep their creativity alive.

Born of this enforced hiatus in the local music scene, a new 'supergroup' was formed featuring Bebington-based singer/songwriter Dean Johnson and Alistair 'Aggi' Clynch, regarded as "the area's finest guitarist".

Their debut album was completed in isolation, with Dean writing and recording the basic tracks from his garden shed, and 'Aggi' adding guitar wizardry and three-octave backing vocals via his basement man-cave in Wallasey.

They have already picked up a record deal via the Finmusic label run by Mal Homes of OMD and their album entitled Johnson/Clynch is due for release soon.

Dean was originally discovered by Chris Difford of Squeeze fame, and went on to record with Wet Wet Wet, and tour with the likes of Bryan Ferry and The Beach Boys.

'Aggi' is a stalwart of the local pub rock scene, fronting the ever popular Bilko's Privates, as well as appearing in theatre shows alongside Slade and other giants of the glam rock era.
