A POPULAR beer garden in Warrington town centre is set for a major facelift with booths for drinkers to sit in.
Plans to refurbish the Postern Gate pub on St Austin's Lane have been approved by planners at Warrington Borough Council.
The pub has always been popular in summer and its outdoor screens have attracted large crowds to watch events such as the World Cup and European Championships.
Plans submitted to the council propose a refurbishment and alteration of the existing external beer garden to include a new decked area, glazed wind breaks and balustrades, booth seating under a covered pergola, cladding to an existing gantry and festoon lighting on box section steel posts.
Blueprints show that the back of the beer garden will have a new decked area formed over the existing floor finish.
The documents say: "The proposal is sympathetic to the existing building and its surroundings, and will provide an opportunity to improve the amenity.
