THEY may no longer be on the same team, but the King brothers are training together once more in preparation for the resumption of the Super League season.

Toby and George King are both products of the Warrington Wolves academy system, with the former having moved in with the latter at his home in the siblings’ native Huddersfield during the coronavirus lockdown.

While forward George left the Halliwell Jones Stadium for Wakefield Trinity at the end of the 2018 season, he and centre Toby have kept their fitness levels up by playing rugby together over the past three months – just like old times.

Their training regime has included swimming in lakes, running up and down the Yorkshire hills, bike rides and weights.

But 25-year-old George is a tough landlord to please, having put his younger brother to work renovating his home in recent weeks.

England Knights international Toby said: “I don’t mind the lockdown when the weather is like it has been.

Warrington Guardian:

“Me and George have been training together a lot – he’s got his own place where me, him and my cousin are at the moment.

“We’ve not trained together for so long, so it’s nice to be back playing rugby with him.

“He tries to wake me up at 7am and he goes mad if I try to sleep in, but apart from that it’s been alright.

Warrington Guardian:

“George is extending his house but he’s a real slave labourer, I can’t even get a cup of coffee off him.

“I’ve been doing loads of doing DIY at my mum and dad’s house as well, so I’m turning into a bit of a grafter.

“I’m definitely missing rugby and I’m looking forward to getting back out there, but I don’t think this will ever happen in our lifetime again so it’s about making the most of it.

“I am missing all of the boys, but it won’t be long now.”

When he does move back to the north west, Toby will have a new roommate.

While Matt Davis is off-contract at the end of the season, the back rower has signed on the dotted line to lodge with his Wire teammate after lockdown.

Warrington Guardian:

The former London Broncos man has been recruited from the ‘dungeon’ he is currently living in with other Wolves young gun, including Luis Johnson – named as it is because of its less than stellar reputation for cleanliness.

King said: “I’ve got a new recruit into my house, Matt Davis is coming to move in with me.

“Hopefully he will develop as a bloke – he is a top man, a really good lad.

“It will be good to have him in the house, and I’ll look after him.

“Matty used to live in what we called the dungeon with Luis Johnson and a few of the other young lads – the way they treated that house was disgusting.

“He’s earned his stripes in the dungeon, but I’m hoping he’s not going to be as messy as he was there.

“I’m teaching how to wash and dry his clothes, because he was putting whites in with colours.

“I learned off Tom Lineham, so I’m going to teach Matty.”

And Toby is hoping for a more successful roommate relationship than he had with the winger.

Warrington Guardian:

The 23-year-old added: “It was a tough few months living at Tommy’s house.

“He used to have severe OCD, so you’d be attacked for anything you’d do.

“I used to spend my nights eating my dinner in Subway, I was spending hours there.”
