A DEFENDANT has admitted stabbing a man in a town centre nightclub.
The 22-year-old victim was slashed in the face with what was described as a ‘sharp implement’ in Block 1 on Bold Street in the early hours of a Sunday morning in March 2019.
Craig Brunie, of Wainfleet in Lincolnshire, was charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article in a public place in connection with the incident in April this year – more than 12 months on from the stabbing.
And the 21-year-old admitted these charges at Liverpool Crown Court during a hearing yesterday, Tuesday.
He will be sentenced back at the same court next month.
The victim was stood on the bar's dancefloor shortly after midnight on March 24 2019 when he was involved in a verbal altercation with a group of men, before being seriously assaulted and suffering a laceration to his left cheek.
It is believed that the man was left with a gaping wound which required plastic surgery after he was rushed to hospital.
Cheshire Police had previously released CCTV footage of two men wanted in connection with the incident.
