MATTEL Play! Liverpool has announced its permanent closure as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Heritage Great Britain's Mattel Play!, on the Royal Albert Dock, was based on the popular TV characters that children know and love – Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam.
It involved interactive adventure play zones and themed children's party areas.
The £1.5 million attraction closed in March to prevent the spread of Covid-19 but it has been confirmed that Mattel Play! Liverpool's doors will not open again.
A spokesperson told the Liverpool Echo: "Following five wonderful years at the Albert Dock, we have taken the difficult decision to close Mattel Play! Liverpool.
"As the focus of the Albert Dock continued to be more bars and restaurants, we have therefore, following a discussion with the landlord, agreed to exit our lease earlier than planned.
"We would have very much liked to have remained at the Albert Dock throughout the summer months but the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, and the consequences which are likely to be felt for many months, made this ambition untenable.
"Heritage Great Britain continues its strong commitment to Liverpool, not least with the fantastic Royal Liver Building 360 tour and experience.
"We are also maintaining our headquarters in the city."
