A SUSPECTED accused of attempted murder over a shooting in Orford has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The 55-year-old victim – named in court as David Barnes – suffered serious injuries after being shot in the leg at a house on Poplars Avenue in April.

Anthony Morris, from Liverpool, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life after being arrested in Southport two days later.

Appearing before Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, May 27, the 22-year-old denied both counts.

He is now due to stand trial over the course of two weeks in October.

Aaron Bretherton and Lewis Fitzpatrick, both of Liverpool, have also been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Bretherton is also charged with possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

The pair, aged 23 and 25 respectively, are expected to submit pleas to these charges during a hearing on June 15.

Residents living near to the scene, between the junctions with Cotswold Road and Newhaven Road, reported hearing three to four gunshots outside the property in question on the evening of April 25.
