POLICE seized a pair of electric scooters when two suspected drug dealers were arrested in Howley.

Officers attended an address on St Elphin’s Close at around 4pm on Wednesday, April 20, as part of a search for a wanted man.

Inside, they found a quantity of class B drugs, cash, several mobile phones and the scooters.

Two men who were present in the property, aged 23 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply.

The pair, from Warrington, have since been released under investigation by Cheshire Police.

Sergeant Alex Reeves said: “Whilst we acknowledge that the vast majority of e-scooter users are clearly not involved in criminality, it has become increasingly apparent from proactive patrolling that some e-scooters are being used by certain individuals to facilitate their involvement in crime.

“It is also important to know that it is illegal to use electric scooters on public roads and they should only be used on private land with the permission of the landowner.”
