FORESTRY England says it is saddened by the amount of litter and disposable BBQs it has found strewn around Delamere Forest.
The organisation manages and maintains the forest, which is open for people to exercise in as long as government guidelines on social distancing are followed.
But it has warned those using it to treat it with respect, especial concerning disposable BBQs which could potentially cause wildfires due to the current dry weather.
A Forestry England spokesperson said: “Although most of our facilities remain closed and with limited staff on the ground to care for the site, Delamere Forest is open for people to enjoy some time outdoors in our beautiful forest.
“Sadly however, we have to report that some people have also been using our woodlands to dispose of their litter.
“Clearly this is unacceptable behaviour and especially worrying to see disposable BBQs at a time when the dry weather means they pose a real fire risk.
“We are appealing to everyone to please respect and protect our forest by not using BBQs and by taking your litter home, particularly during these already challenging times.”
