A PUPIL at a Darlington school has tested positive for coronavirus.
A spokesman for Skerne Park Academy in Darlington said: "We can confirm that a child who has been accessing school provision at Skerne Park Academy has tested positive for coronavirus today. The child’s parents have also tested positive."
The school has been closed until further notice to allow for the necessary period of isolation.
Headteacher Kate Chisholm said: “All parents have been informed and the school is following guidelines issued by Public Health England. We would like to reassure everyone that every possible step is being taken to ensure the safety of our pupils and staff, and we wish the family a speedy recovery.”
During the lockdown, Skerne Park Academy has been accommodating nearly 40 children, and the family in question has been accessing the school’s key worker provision.
