WARRINGTON Guardian sports editor Mike Parsons has come up with his top 10 Wire Magic Weekend moments and today is number 9.

If it had not been for the coronavirus UK lockdown, this Saturday would have seen Warrington Wolves playing fierce rivals Wigan Warriors at St James’ Park in Newcastle in the latest Magic Weekend event in which a complete round of Super League matches are played over two days at the one venue.

See if you agree with Mike as the countdown continues over the coming days and let us know if there’s any other moments you would have included.

Number 9: Flagging in Cardiff:

When Warrington Wolves fans descended on the Welsh capital for the first Magic Weekend event in 2007, a unique moment gave notice of the way Wire supporters had bought into the concept of a full round of fixtures being played at the magnificent Millennium Stadium in one weekend.

A 40-foot Warrington Wolves barmy army Wolfie flag was unfurled outside The City Arms pub in the shadows of the stadium, and it was just one of those amazing sights not to be forgotten for those who were there.
