A MAN was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being shot in the leg at a house in Orford last night.

Cheshire Police say a number of gunshots were fired outside an address on Poplars Avenue shortly after 8.45pm yesterday, Friday.

Armed officers rushed to the scene, and a 55-year-old man was taken to Warrington Hospital by ambulance.

He suffered serious injuries to one of his legs, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing, and the force’s investigations are in their ‘early stages’.

No arrests have yet been made, and a police presence remains on the scene – between the junctions with Cotswold Road and Newhaven Road – today, Saturday.

Residents in the area reported hearing three to four shots being fired.

Detective inspector Sarah Oliver said: “I understand how concerning this incident will be for those living in the area, and I want to reassure residents that they can expect to see a visible policing presence while we do everything we can to trace those responsible.
