But for now, enjoy these.

Twenty minutes highlights of 1989 Lancashire Cup Final win against Oldham at Knowsley Road, St Helens

All the tries from a breath-taking clash between Wire and London Broncos in the first season of Super League in 1996. Some sensational work in this one from young guns Jon Roper and Iestyn Harris

Relive all the emotion of that final game at Wilderspool Stadium between Wire and Wakefield. No commentary needed, wouldn’t have heard it anyway due to the loudness of the crowd that was crammed in like sardines to witness the historical day.

How’s this for a win against Wigan. John Dorahy sacked, Paul Cullen in temporary charge and they come up with this incredible performance. The year is 1997.

If there’s a more popular former Wire overseas player than Nathan Wood then we’re yet to meet him. Here’s why, check out his career in this 25-minute highlights reel. There’s also some tributes at the end from his teammates after announcing his retirement. Please note, there is some swearing in those interviews:

Nathan Wood was renowned in the game for pulling pranks on his teammates. In the past few days he's been telling presenters at Fox League in Australia about some of the 'rippers' he performed on NRL players. He'll have you in stitches, watch here:

The “Greatest Comeback Since Lazarus”. When Wire stunned the mighty Bradford Bulls at Wilderspool Stadium in 2001, with Allan Langer setting the place alight. Plenty of biff, and some very enthusiastic commentary from the club’s former community manager Adam Jude – “I’m losing my voice Mick, you’ll have to take over”

Quite simply the greatest EVER. Rare archive footage in this tribute to the one and only Brian Bevan.

And now the Challenge Cup Final between Warrington and Widnes at Wembley in 1975 – in colour!

This is wonderful. Dave Lyon’s home movie behind the scenes of Warrington’s Wembley week in 1990.

There's also this, for a bit of something different.

Forty minutes of a Hull KR v Leigh in a Challenge Cup second round game from 1981-82 at the old Craven Park ground, featuring two future Wire stars in the Leigh ranks - Des Drummond and John Woods.

Other ex-Wire players in the Leigh side were Geoff Clarkson, Ian Potter and Steve Donlan.
