THE entire former Toys 'R' Us site in Warrington will be converted into a car showroom and repair workshop.
A planning application to convert the site by Arnold Clark has been approved by officers at Warrington Borough Council.
As revealed by the Warrington Guardian late last year, the motor giant plans to move into the former toy shop in Gemini which closed in April 2018.
It will use the 2.42 hectare site for the sale, service and MOT of vehicles and the move is part of a nationwide rebranding and refurbishment scheme by Arnold Clark which includes constructing new car showrooms.
The planning application states: "Arnold Clark believe that this site in Warrington is an excellent location to expand their business, provide an excellent customer experience and ultimately, create employment opportunities within the area; both during construction and when fully operational.
"The entire site is proposed for motor trade.
"The existing building will be converted for use as a vehicle showroom with offices, service and body repair workshop and vehicle /prep/photography facilities with vehicle washing facilities building being housed in an extension to the back of the building in the service yard area."
The site will be able to open from 7am until 10pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sundays.
