SAINTS’ Head of Strength and Conditioning Matt Daniels and Head Physio Nathan Mill have put together a plan to keep the first team squad fit following the latest Government advice.

Monday evening’s announcement from Boris Johnson means that normal training cannot take place and the players have been stood down.

But Daniels has set basic home work outs to keep their bodies in tip-top shape ahead of the potential return to Super League.

Daniels said: "What we are trying to do is maintain the players' fitness levels and their readiness to compete when they return.

"We have devised home training programmes and tried to make them as individual as we can.

"We have helped them with small bits of equipment for those who haven't got much at home to support their programme.

"The home programme consists of bodyweight and field-based exercises, as well as indoor cardio circuits that can all be done with little or no equipment."

Physio Mill said they can remotely check on the recovery of players on the rehab programme and go through other aspects with the players via video.

"Although it is a very difficult situation to be in, the technology is there to use to help influence the players as positively as we can," he said.
