SOCIAL media is offering a lifeline to those in care homes wishing to see their families.

Thelwall Grange Care Home, Thelwall, is currently closed to the public to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This means residents are not able to see their family and friends during this difficult time.

Kirstie Amos, activities co-ordinator at Thelwall Grange, said: "To keep our residents in contact with loved ones we have set up a Facebook page where we post daily about everything going on in the home, including updates and pictures of our activities.

"We have also set up Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Skype and Face Time to ensure contact is kept.

"The residents have absolutely loved talking to their families through the laptops and iPads and look forward to the next call.

"We have also upped our activity programme in the house as the residents aren’t able to go out into the community at the moment."
