The Northwich Vics Column - by Peter Tonge

WELL, after a miserable few weeks with the weather, it felt so good to have football back last weekend.

The enforced break looked to have done Vics good.

We managed a convincing 4-2 win with two goals each from Brandon Barski and Bradley Lynch giving us the points away at Congleton Town in front of a great crowd of 495, made up not only of Congleton and Vics’ supporters but also many ‘Groundhoppers’ for whom , the match was the sixth in a series of seven games that weekend.

This was organised by the North West Counties League, and consisted of one Friday night match, four on the Saturday and two on Sunday, all in the local area ranging from Wythenshawe to Winsford.

This looks like it proved a great success as the total attendances was a record for such a weekend, with two clubs, Sandbach and Wythenshawe Amateurs recording their highest attendance ever.

We now move on (hopefully) with a busy month.

On Saturday we play a mid table team in Padiham, our manager Steve Wilkes’ former club of course, so a bit of extra spice added there.

Please come down and show your support for Vics, as we then have a spell of six consecutive away matches until our next home fixture on 11 April against Ashton Athletic.

This run of away matches,of course, puts a strain on the financial side of the Club.

So with that in mind we have arranged our Spring Family Bingo evening for Friday, 20 March.

This is to be held at Wincham Community Centre starting at 7pm and is open to all to attend.

Entry is free, with only the bingo cards to pay for, and there will be a licensed bar and hot food available during the evening.

This is always a fun and enjoyable evening, and there will be lots of great prizes to be won so we hope as many of you will attend as possible.

So get down with your friends and family, and have a fun evening.

Full details are on our club website and will be fully advertised during the next two weeks on our twitter and facebook pages as well. (377).
