A NEW-LOOK Knutsford FC succumbed to the same outcome on Saturday.

Jordan Gunter's side, including debutants Ashnie Harvey at right-back, Lee Constantine in midfield and Josh Robinson at centre-half, extended their run without a win to eight matches as they fell 2-1 at home to Eagle Sports.

"While Knutsford did well in the first half, their second half performance was poor and lacked energy," said chairman Jimmy Evans.

"Missed chances and defensive errors seem to be the story of the season so far.

"Credit to Eagle who were fitter and worked harder overall."

In Reds' first game for a month following issues with waterlogged pitches, the game started slowly.

Knutsford then took control and started playing some good football.

A Wynne cross found Austin at the far post but his header went just wide.

Dryden made an excellent save but Eagle were mostly on the back foot.

Thompson went agonisingly close when he chipped the visiting but his effort went inches over the bar.

A Riley left footer from distance went just wide and at the other end Robinson cleared off the line before Hutchins hit the outside of Dryden’s left post.

Wood, who joined the action at half-time, drove forward and crossed to Constantine to side-foot home after 46 minutes.

But rather than drive on, it was Eagle who upped their game.

They had a goal disallowed for offside and Mountney cleared another effort off the line.

Austin scored what looked like a good goal but was adjudged offside.

Then a big mix-up in Knutsford’s defence as they failed to clear danger allowed Hutchins a free shot for 1-1 on 68 minutes.

Austin, fed through by Constantine, hit the net but again was judged offside.

As the game closed Eagle scored the winner after a cross from the right and another free header by the unmarked and well travelled Stuart Wellstead for an 88th minute winner.
