FORMER Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid has revealed he is starting his own business following a ‘very challenging’ period after his election defeat.

Mr Rashid, who was among the Labour casualties during a devastating general election in December, says he was glad to be able to serve the community in Parliament and is now ready to begin a new chapter in his life.

He has decided to start his own business, Westminster Finance Limited, where he aims to help businesses grow by providing bespoke finance solutions.

Mr Rashid says he made the decision after careful consideration following a ‘very challenging’ couple of months.

The former Mayor of Warrington said: “I have always believed in helping small businesses grow, as this creates wealth, jobs and prosperity.

“Having had a professional career with NatWest and HBOS I have experience, knowledge and a history in the banking industry.

“Access to finance is the lifeblood of any business and Westminster Finance offers bespoke finance solutions to businesses in need of credit and financial consultancy.

“At Westminster Finance, we will provide a service of finance brokerage.

“We will package deals according to individual circumstances and then find the best lender for our customers.

“Whether clients are looking to buy a property for investment, are first time buyers, re-mortgaging, buy-to-let or require any type of commercial and residential mortgages, we can help.”

Mr Rashid was also keen to highlight his past work while in elected roles.

He added: “During my time as a Member of Parliament, I was chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Business Support and Engagement.

“I was also chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on Trade Justice, Healthcare Infrastructure, Belt & Road Initiative and I was a member of many finance and business-related groups. I was also a member of the International Trade Select Committee.

“Prior to this, when I was Mayor of Warrington, I also helped launch Warrington Business Exchange which helps local businesses connect and grow, creating a stronger and more cohesive economy in Warrington.

“The initial name was 'Business Circle' or 'Circle the Future' and I invited businesses to sign up to create new opportunities and enhance existing ones.

“I am very pleased to see this initiative helping many businesses and leaving a long-lasting legacy from my mayoral year.”
