CHENNAI in Glazebury has thanked customers for their understanding and support after a flood put the Indian restaurant out of action.

Water pipes beneath the building, on the corner of Warrington Road and Lately Common, burst on Friday evening – leading to substantial water damage and an evacuation of the restaurant.

All reservations over the weekend also had to be cancelled.

Chennai has now announced it has reopened after 'working tirelessly' on repairs since Saturday.

A spokesman on Facebook said: "We are pleased to announce that repairs have finally been made and we are now up and running. Once again we would like to thank everyone for the love and support.

"We sincerely apologise to all the customers who had reservations with us over the past few days. As you can understand it has been a frustrating few days and we really appreciate the patience."
