WARRINGTON Wolves have launched new rugby sessions for toddlers.
The Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation’s Wolf Pack has been set up in order to encourage boys and girls aged between two and five to pick up a rugby ball for the first time.
Having first started in January, sessions take place at the University of Chester’s Padgate campus from 9am on Sundays in partnership with Activate Fun.
Foundation primary school coordinator Danny Williams said: “We wanted to started developing a rugby opportunity for children of a younger age and to give them their physical age so that when they’re ready, we can direct them towards their local club.
“It’s been very popular and we’ve had to have a waiting list.
“We want to work on children’s physical development rather than their rugby skills at this point – we want to introduce kids to the sport sooner, and to get them into good, healthy habits early because this generation of children has so many more distractions now.
“We’re using the love of Warrington Wolves to get these children to engage with us.
“By April we want to open up these sessions and offer them out of community clubs.
“There is a lot of interest, and I’m hoping that once we link up with our community clubs as well there will be even more interest.”
