WORKERS have been chopping down trees in the town centre as part of the new Centre Park link road scheme.
The £19million scheme will see a new bridge built over the Mersey between Chester Road and Slutchers Lane.
And tree clearances have been begun along Slutchers Lane at the junction with Wilson Patten Street, as well as in Centre Park itself.

Work is expected to continue until Sunday, February 16 – with temporary traffic lights in place on Slutchers Lane as a result.
The bridge is due to be opened by the end of 2020, and will include a new signal-controlled junction where the road meets Wilson Patten Street.
How the bridge will look when completed later this year
