PULLED pork, chilli and nachos are among the new dishes available for fans on Warrington Wolves matchdays.

Warrington Guardian:

The Wire have teamed up with new catering partners Elior in order to create a new menu for the concourse bars at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

And fans are now able to wolf down pulled pork baps, chilli, spicy southern fried chicken burgers and nachos topped with cheese, jalapenos and salsa.

For supporters with more traditional tastes, the classic matchday pie is now available with a helping of peas or gravy.

Other items introduced include oven chips and a soup of the day.

Jonny Chambers, general catering manager for Elior at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, said: “We took the contract on in mid-season last year, with the thought of making all the changes ready for the 2020 season.

“Me and my head chef have come up with the new menu.

Warrington Guardian:

“What we had available before was very basic because of the facilities we had, but we’ve bought in new equipment which has enabled us to do these things.

“You can have the chips on their own, or with a burger or with a pie and gravy.

“The same goes for the chilli – you can have it on the nachos, the hot dogs or your chips.

Warrington Guardian:

“We’ve introduced more gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options as well.

“Previously we didn’t have any gluten-free offerings, but now the chips, chilli, peas and gravy are all available.

“The chips, peas, gravy and nachos are all vegan too.

“I think the food has been quite well-received so far.”

New drinks are now available to buy on game day as well – including Magners dark fruits, Poretti lager, Somersby cider in larger bottles and draught Guinness.

Warrington Guardian:

Jonny added: “My favourite new item is the new vegetarian cheese, leek and potato pie – it’s something a bit different.

“The chicken strips are quite spicy but they’re very good too.

“You can put them on a bun to make a burger, or you can have them with chips.

Warrington Guardian:

“If there are other things that people do want on the menu, we are open to feedback.”

All bars have also been fitted with contactless payment machines.

Warrington Wolves chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick said: “As a partnership, we have worked hard with our colleagues from Elior over the off season – taking on board the invaluable feedback from our supporters to improve our stadium experience even further.

Warrington Guardian:

“On the field, the rugby league speaks for itself – the close derbies, big hits, full-length tries and results.

“But as a club, we believe off the field investment is just as important to complete that experience – because from the moment someone steps through the turnstile you are part of the Wire family.”
