THERE have been more reported crashes on the East Lancashire Road than any other road in St Helens borough in the last three years.

A freedom of information request submitted to Merseyside Police revealed there were 14 reported collisions each on the East Lancs in 2017 and 2018, and 10 that took place on the road last year.

In 2019, there were seven reported crashes each on both the St Helens Linkway and Church Road in Haydock, and five apiece on Boundary Road and Marshalls Cross Road.

Last year in the borough, there were 230 reported crashes in 2019, 222 in 2018 and 228 in 2017.

There were three fatal crashes in the borough in 2019, less than both 2018 (six) and 2017 (five).
