NOVICE dancers are getting ready to take to the floor as part of Brainwave's annual Strictly Summer event.

Birchwood-based charity, Brainwave, is bringing back its popular competition which will see 10 volunteers from the business world strut their stuff.

They will be paired with professional dancers from Cadman’s Dance School in Sale for the chance to lift the coveted Brainwave trophy.

The event will raise vital funds for the charity which helps children with disabilities achieve greater independence through a range of specialist therapies.

Event organiser and regional fundraiser at Brainwave, Joanne Freeman, said: "I am so excited to bring back Strictly Summer for 2020.

"Last year’s event was such a fun and fabulous evening – all of the dancers were amazing, and their hard work in training really paid off.

"I can’t wait to see what this year’s dancers bring to the dance floor in June.

"We are incredibly grateful that they are taking on this brilliant challenge for Brainwave and helping us to raise vital funds for our charity."

The event will take place at The Mere Golf and Spa Resort in Knutsford on Saturday, June 27.

Dancers will have until then to learn their routines, and in some cases, learn how to dance.

One of the competitors, Stephen Taylor, representing One Warrington Conservatives, said: "I have never danced in my life before, apart from the usual disco dancing after a drink or two!

"I have attended many Brainwave events over the years, and it’s an amazing charity that I love to support.

"I am really looking forward to meeting my professional partner and learning to dance.

"I’m not totally sure I am confident about how things will go on the night, but whatever the outcome, it’s all in aid of a great cause."

Another novice dancer taking part, Sara Mullins, director of sales at Pentahotel Warrington, added: "Having no co-ordination and two left feet makes this a really tough personal challenge but I’m hoping to have some fun, learn something new and raise money for this incredible charity."
