PRO-BREXIT campaigners celebrated the UK’s historic departure from the EU on Friday.
Warrington 4 Brexit’s event – which was held at Woolston Social Club – included entertainment and a countdown to the 11pm departure time.
Warrington was one of the areas that voted to exit the EU referendum – with Leave winning 62,487 votes in the town. It amounted to 54.3 per cent of the vote.
Ahead of the ‘Brexit Day’ event, Warrington 4 Brexit said it had been a ‘tough and challenging year’ since its first demonstration in the town centre but that it ‘kept faith with British democracy’.
It added that it hopes everyone in the town ‘can move on and Warringtonians can come together again and reunite’.
