A MAN from Lymm has died after suffering serious injuries in a car crash in Wales.

David Swindells, 71, was driving a white Ford Fiesta in Dolwyddealan on Sunday, January 12 when he was involved in a collision. 

The accident occurred shortly before 2pm on the A470 at Roman Bridge.

David was airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries but died on Wednesday, January 22.

Now his daughter Lisa has paid tribute and thanked the emergency services.

She said: "We have been left devastated after the crash, so sad.

"Dad was at his most happiest with his retirement time spent in Tanygrisiau, Blaenau Ffestiniog.

"He just loved the area, chatting to the locals and finding out the history regarding beautiful North Wales.

"I would like to give a big thank you to the people that reported the crash and stayed with my Dad at the scene.

"And the heroes that are the North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit, the Wales Air Ambulance and the Critical Care Unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital – thank you, you will not be forgotten."

Officers are continuing to appeal for any witnesses and anybody who can assist is asked to contact officers at the roads policing unit on 101 quoting reference number Y005277.

David's funeral will take place on Wednesday, February 12 at 2pm at Altrincham Crematorium.
