A FORMER council leader has reaffirmed calls for a health hub to be delivered south of the River Mersey to bring together key services.
Cllr Ian Marks (LD – Lymm North and Thelwall) put forward his views on the matter during the health scrutiny committee meeting at Warrington Town Hall on Thursday evening.
But he admits finding a suitable space for a site in the area will be tricky.
Cllr Marks said: “We have talked about integrated care hubs and I’m delighted we have got two of them going and the third one, perhaps, coming along.
“But wearing my southern councillor hat, I know you are trying very hard and I can’t think of an area or place, but I just want to put it on record that we do want something in the south.
“A physical space would be very useful, so I just want to put it on record that we would like one too, as soon as possible. It’s not easy, I understand that.”
An integrated care hub allows various health professionals to work together – which can allow for health, social care and community organisations to work side by side.
They also aim to resolve primary care ‘cluster capacity issues’.
A third one would add to integrated care hubs in Orford and Great Sankey.
Cllr Paul Warburton (LAB – Chapelford and Old Hall), who chaired the committee meeting, thanked Cllr Marks for sharing his views, while Warrington Together programme director Simon Kenton noted them.
