A wanted man who was arrested in dramatic circumstances in Bradford has been jailed for 10 years for robbery and dangerous driving.

Glen Nunns had been the subject of a Crimewatch appeal after going on the run following serious offending in the east midlands.

But, in an incident that saw a van driven towards oncoming traffic on Bradford's Manchester Road, Nunns was snared in an operation involving Steerside officers, West Yorkshire's roads policing unit and officers from Bradford South.

Nunns was wanted over an incident that occurred in Scrooby, a small village in North Nottinghamshire, on Sunday, May 27, 2018.

Nunns pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court this week.

Nunns and three other men forced entry into a remote property and assaulted and restrained the two elderly people who lived there using cable ties.

Cash was stolen during the incident.

The dangerous driving offence relates to him failing to stop for police after fleeing the scene of the robbery.

Detective Sergeant Mark Shaw said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for the elderly and vulnerable victims. Nunns’ actions have had a significant impact on their lives and I am glad that we have been able to secure this outcome.

“Nottinghamshire Police works extremely hard to tackle robbery and we will always thoroughly investigate reports made to us.”

Referring back to Nunns' arrest in Bradford, Steerside Enforcement tweeted: "Initiated this pursuit and was supported by @WYP_BradfordS and @WYP_RPU. Great to hear a good result from the courts. 👍🚓"

West Yorkshire Police - Bradford South tweeted: "Remember this job? NUNNs is the male we arrested at the scene driving the van having been wanted for a long period of time for a serious offence! Great team work by all involved resulting in a 10 year prison sentence @WYP_RPU @WYP_Steerside @nottspolice #OneTeam 👍🏻💪🏻"

On October 2, 2019, West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "Bradford. Vehicle failed to stop. Driver drove wrong way up Manchester Road towards oncoming traffic. Driver crashed and detained. Arrested for Agg burglary, dangerous driving, fail to stop, disqualified driving, document offences and drink driving."
