Nine members of Prestatyn Rotary Club took part in an annual Christmas tree collection to raise funds for St Kentigern Hospice.

The event, organised by the St Asaph hospice and facilitated by the JustHelping website, enabled individuals to have their used real Christmas trees collected in return for a donation.

Chris Porteous, of Prestatyn Rotary Club, said: "Registered on the site this year were 40 charities from all over the country. It was a simple task to choose a local one and make a donation.

"The hospice asked for teams of volunteers to collect after the 12th night and Prestatyn's helpers collected 163 trees from Prestatyn, Rhuddlan, Dyserth and Bodelwyddan.

"The total collection of 560 trees raised more than £5,200 for the hospice, with some money going to the Rhyl Sea Cadets who also helped.

"The trees were all delivered to Thorncliffe's recycling centre in Abergele."
