ST Rocco's Christmas tree collection has been a huge success, raising £33,000 for vital patient care.

On Saturday more than 130 volunteers donated their time to help pick up 2,400 used Christmas trees.

Residents were able to discard their Christmas tree by making a donation to the hospice.

The trees were then recycled and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

Charlotte Howard, events fundraiser for St Rocco’s Hospice said: "We’re so happy that this year’s Christmas tree collection has been so successful and we’re thrilled that the people of Warrington continue to support patient care at the hospice through their very generous donations year after year.

"We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made a booking and a donation and of course would like to say thanks to all of the volunteers from businesses who worked so hard on the day- we really couldn’t do it without them all!"

This year a whole host of companies and organisations had vans on the roads.

These included: Warrington Borough Council, BT Skips, HMS Urban Building Projects, VPS Specialists, SP Energy Networks, nmcn, Beesley & Fildes, Warrington Electrical Supplies, Beechwood Industries Ltd, Omega Access North, Bmec, Sandstone Supplies, and Bagnalls.

The dates for next year’s event will be available soon at
