PLANS have been submitted to Warrington Borough Council for the next four phases of the Omega masterplan which includes 617 homes.

Phases four to seven, which herald the final part of the Omega South development, are outlined in planning documents.

The 617 residential units, to be built by Miller Developments, will be spread across the 23.8 hectare area of vacant brownfield land next to Burtonwood Road and Whittle Avenue.

The Omega masterplan consists of a number of different zones, some of which have already been developed. Houses have already been built at the south side of the land, close to Great Sankey High School.

Proposals for phases four to seven also include the development of recreational green space, including the green routes, connecting around and through the 'Green Heart', as well as a network of cycle routes throughout the site.

The proposed scale of buildings is said to be generally of one, two, two-and-a-half and three storey homes and these will range from starter to family homes.

Documents state how the homes will be 'traditional in form' but will 'incorporate elements and material of contemporary design' to reflect similar housing architecture in the vicinity of the site.

These dwellings will likely range from one to five bedroom homes of mixed tenure to accommodated affordable housing requirements - according to plans.

A new access spine road will run from north to south throughout the site, connecting with Burtonwood Road at the Kingswood Road junction, in addition to a new access road from the existing Burtonwood roundabout, off an existing stub.

At the junction of Burtonwood Road and Whittle Avenue, developers plan to create a basin to introduce wetland and a wildlife corridor.

In addition to the 1,100 houses on the overall Omega site, the scheme includes a hotel, an extra care facility and a non-residential institution.
