A TEENAGER has been handed a youth referral order after he was caught carrying weapons in the street.
The 17-year-old boy was arrested by police in Whittle Hall after he was found in possession of a kitchen knife with an eight-inch blade and a knuckle duster.
Warrington Magistrates Court heard last week that police were called to reports of two males acting suspiciously in the area around Whittle Hall Lane at around 11.15am on Monday, December 9 – with one of the pair believed to be carrying a knife.
Both suspects were found nearby on Wensleydale Close, with the teen detained when police discovered the weapons.
He admitted possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place on Wednesday, January 8.
The boy was referred to the youth offender panel for a year by the magistrates and told to pay £85 court costs plus a £21 victim surcharge.
Forfeiture and destruction of the knife and knuckle duster was also ordered.
