AN up-and-coming teenage actress is in line to receive a top industry award.

Jessica Ratcliffe, from Burtonwood, has been nominated for a National Operatic and Dramatic Association award for her part as the Artful Dodger in a performance of Oliver Twist.

Pilkington Musical Theatre Company’s performance of the music took place in October at the St Helens Theatre Royal.

The 14-year-old previously won the North West District Award for Best Youth Female in an Adult Production last year at the Burtonwood AMAD’s, and has been nominated again for the same award.

Mum Julie said: “She is just gifted, she is so funny to watch on stage without being obnoxious”

“She is thrilled and made up about her second nomination.”

Jessica began acting when joining an amateur dramatics group at the age of five, and hopes to continue a career in musical theatre after finishing her GCSEs at Hope Academy in Newton-le-Willows.

Her upcoming projects include a pantomime in February and Wish Upon a Star with First Act Drama Tuition, a charity musical showcase at the Lowry.

Award winners will be announced during a ceremony in Southport next month, with Jessica moving on to the regional finals if successful.

Pilkington’s has also been nominated collectively for a NODA, as has the director of their performance of Oliver Twist.
