MERE months after signing their first record deal, electronic synth band Reclaim Vienna have released their second single.

Following the success of their first release, Kick the Butterfly, the Northwich and Winsford six-piece put out their latest track Paris on Friday, December 6, which has already been filling the dancefloors of Manchester’s indie clubs.

Paris has been compared to New Order, Duran Duran and The Slow Readers Club, all of which the band agrees are an influence, along with classic 80s electronic music.

Danny Smith, the band’s main songwriter, said: “Paris describes falling out with someone, losing yourself as a cause of someone else and knowing that although it's happening, you continue loving that person because you know in the end they’re the right one for you.”

Singer Jon Steen added: “Our inspiration, as always, is to create music for the dance floor. I think that is evident in this song. It’s a big electronic pop, dance song with an anthemic feel to it ¬¬– a fan favourite.”

The band – which comprises twin brothers Danny and Ryan Smith (guitar/lyrics and drums, respectively), Harry Woodrow (keys) and Ryan Harlow (lead guitar), singer Jon Steen and bass player Paul Hill – has been making a huge impact at live gigs this year having recently played two sell-out Manchester shows.

Northwich Guardian:

And 2020 looks set to be an equally successful year for the band who say things have been incredible since signing on the dotted line with Manchester label 42’s Records in August.

Jon sad: “It’s been brilliant working with 42’s Records. They are great guys and we really like working with them. They are signing more bands and really putting some quality music out.

“We’ve played some big gigs recently, one of which was The Bread Shed in Manchester which was arguably our best to date. All of 42’s Records were there to celebrate with us and it was an amazing night for everyone.”

With their first UK tour lined up for 2020, the band is looking forward to playing new venues and winning over new fans.

Jon said: “Music brings people together, it makes people feel something, and if we make music that people want dance and groove to we’re doing it right.

“We’ll be playing some really cool venues with more dates to be added along the way. We’re all excited to get to places we haven’t played before and show them what we’re made of. We’ll also be playing some brilliant festivals too. It could be real breakthrough year for us with more songs to be released too.”

Closer to home, Reclaim Vienna will play Manchester’s Night and Day Café on February 28, The Zanzibar club in Liverpool March 21, and Debees Music Bar in Winsford on April 10. And as for news on an album release? It’s a case of watch this space.

“We have the material for an album,” said Jon. “When it will be you’ll have to wait and see.”
