A LARGE emergency services presence was called to a block of flats this afternoon, Tuesday.
At 4.20pm, six fire engines and a number of police cars were called to Kingsway House in Latchford.
They had been called after reports of a smoke alarm at the high-rise building in Kingsway South.
On arrival crews found alarms sounding on two floors.
Firefighters inspected the floors and the rooms within them using thermal imaging cameras as well as all the lower floors as a precaution but found no signs of fire.
A fire service spokesman said: "The alarms are believed to have been activated by smoking materials in an communal area."
Firefighters were in attendance for around 45 minutes.
