A MAN wielding a baseball bat arrested amid a huge police presence in Bewsey has admitted attacking an officer.
Jamie Worrall was arrested on Folly Lane shortly after 12pm on Halloween, with at least six police cars rushing to the scene.
Video footage showed him being detained in an alleyway, with a policewoman suffering a minor injury to her head after being assaulted.
The 21-year-old, of Boutling Avenue in Dallam, admitted assaulting an emergency services worker and possession of an offensive weapon at Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 21.
Worrall was told to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and handed a 12-month community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 15 days.
He will also be required to pay £100 in compensation to the police officer plus a £90 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
Magistrates also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the baseball bat.
