THE Royal Alfred pub is set to reopen its doors tonight under new ownership.

The pub, which has seen a number of openings and closures over the past two years had faced an uncertain future when it was placed on the market by previous owners Punch.

However, the pub, situated at a key location close to St Helens Central rail station, is set to start a new lease of life.

The pub has been taken over by brewer Gary Wright, who also has the Talbot Ale House on Duke Street.

The Royal Alfred is scheduled to reopen its doors this evening (Friday, November 22) from 6pm.

A new Facebook page for the pub posted a preview of some of the changes made inside ahead of tonight's launch.

A post published yesterday said: "Little peek of the small changes we've made up to last week.

"Plenty more changes this week! Pop in over the weekend and check out phase 1 of our transformation of the Royal Alfred & Hotel x".
