A FRAUDSTER who falsely claimed her dad had died in order to avoid paying council tax, a waiter who blinded a colleague at an Indian restaurant and a burglar who broke into his nextdoor neighour's house while he was in hospital were among the Warrington criminals brought to justice in November.

Every month, the Warrington Guardian takes a look back at some of the court cases that have been featured in the paper in the weeks previously.

Other defendants appearing in November included a conman who swindled his friends out of more than £60,000, a stalker who broke into his ex-girlfriend's house while she was in the shower and a serial offender who threatened to stab a pregnant woman on a train.

CRIME: Fraud

The fraudster claimed that her dad was dead in order to avoid paying council tax.

Ward was jailed after fighting broke out in the King and Queen pub in Padgate.

The serial offender threatened to stab a pregnant woman and her baby on a train from Padgate Station.

CRIME: Failing to stop after an accident, drink driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and failing to surrender to bail

The drink driver crashed his Mercedes into a garden wall after an eight-hour booze binge.

The delivery driver conned his friends and workmates out of more than £60,000 after promising them cheap vehicles and electronics.

The 19-year-old and co-defendant Leah Holzman obstructed police after a stabbing in Bewsey, denying to police that the suspect was present in Woods' home when he was hiding out in the attic.

AGE: 29

CRIME: Harassment

Braddish threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend during a 'five-month campaign of harassment’.

WHAT THE JUDGE SAID: "This has had a huge effect on her and her family – you are a big, strong-looking man and they would have expected the potential for the violence you threatened to carry out."

SENTENCE: 10-month imprisonment, suspended for 18 months

CRIME: Permitting a premises to be used for the supply of class A drugs

Duke allowed her home on Algernon Street in Fairfield to be used as a crack cocaine and heroin dealing den.

SENTENCE: 12-month community order

NAME: Dominic Wilson

AGE: 28

CRIME: Stalking

Wilson followed his ex-girlfriend around the Trafford Centre and broke into her house while she was in the shower during a four-month campaign of harassment.

WHAT THE JUDGE SAID: "She had a constant cycle of emotions as a result of what you have done – she wants to be in a position where she is not constantly looking over her shoulder."

SENTENCE: 12-month imprisonment suspended for 18 months

The thief pinched money from charity collection boxes at the Blackburne Arms pub on four occasions.

The armed forces veteran was convicted of abusing young girls for the second time, this time having targeted victims aged as young as six.
