Head chef Shane Hamilton has completed his annual building project and unveiled his latest gingerbread version of the Lodore Falls Hotel.

The chef first took on the sweet construction in 2002 and it has grown over the years to keep up with the hotel’s developments.

Each year, he spends days perfecting his masterpiece to have it ready in time for the launch of the hotels festive menu’s, which are available until January 3.

The towering gingerbread hotel can now be seen in the hotel’s lobby, where it will remain until New Year’s Day when it is knocked to pieces by children staying in the hotel over the New Year.

Shane commented, “Over the last two years the gingerbread hotel has doubled in size, with the latest additions of The Falls Spa and the new spa suites being added. The house features stained sugar windows and real working lights, all of which are edible, apart from the lights.”

Another tradition at the hotel, is their annual ballet performances; each year over 30 talented young dancers from The Starkey School of Theatre Dance, Whitehaven perform a shortened version of the ballet at the hotel, followed by a themed afternoon tea in the award-winning Lake View restaurant.

This year the theme to the ballet is the Nutcracker, which was performed last weekend (Sunday 17th November) and will be repeated on December 1.
