Southport-based White Leisure Ltd have made an application to St Helens Council for a licence.

A notice of application says White Leisure is "applying for an adult gaming centre premises licence under Section 59 of the Gambling Act 2005".

The Star reported earlier this year when a planning application, drawn up by Clifford White, had sought conversion of the building.

Plans included to turn the "existing mixed use building" into ground floor use for unspecified "professional services", with "nine self-contained residential flats above".

The proposals were granted permission by planning officers in September.

The licensing application was received by St Helens Council on Friday, November 8.

The deadline for representations is Friday, December 6.
