THE Samaritans branch in Warrington is celebrating its 50th anniversary since opening in the town.
Warrington, Halton and St Helens Samaritans launched 1969.
They were the 98th branch to open with 201 branches now operating in the UK.
Based originally on Bank Street and then Arpley Street, the branch moved to The Outset on Sankey Street in 2017 where 75 volunteers do a variety of listening shifts and support roles to keep the branch running.
The Warrington branch takes around 12,000 calls per year and is involved in a variety of outreach and external programmes, supporting the community.
Volunteers will be holding more events in 2020 to help celebrate the important milestone and also to raise awareness of the charity.
