TWO grenades that were seized during a raid by police were set off in a controlled explosion in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Shortly before 1.50am on Thursday, November 14, a warrant was executed on Lyme Grove in Huyton and two grenades and controlled drugs were located.

The drugs have been recovered for forensic examination and the grenades were taken to land off Fleet Lane, Parr to be destroyed by officers, supported by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), at about 10am.

Following the warrant, James Morgan, 34, of Radway Road, Huyton was arrested and later charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court today Friday, November 15.
