IT has been a long wait, but the new Bewsey and Dallam Community Hub is finally taking shape.
The steel structure of the £3.25 million facility is now clearly visible on Longshaw Street.
Work started on the new three-storey leisure centre in May and is due to be finished by next summer.
Facilities will include a library, ICT provision, a multi-use learner/hydrotherapy pool, accessible and group wet and dry changing facilities, a studio/multi-activity space for community use and group fitness classes and a dedicated fitness suite with a selection of the latest equipment to serve a range of needs/abilities.
How it could look
A groundbreaking ceremony for the facility was originally held on the land, off Longshaw Street, in March 2016.
And it was originally given a planned opening date of summer 2017.
But after a remarkably protracted process, it finally seems on track to be in use in 2020.
