A NEW restaurant and leisure operator are set to be confirmed for Time Square.

Deals have been agreed and are due to be formally given the green light by councillors when the cabinet meets on Monday night.

One is for one of the six remaining restaurant units close to Cineworld.

Botanist has already been confirmed and opens in early December.

The other deal is for a leisure operator to move into the current Market building.

As part of the Time Square deal, traders will move into a new market which fronts onto Bridge Street in the new year.

Developers Muse and Metis Real Estate have been promoting the £142.5 million project to potential tenants ahead of the opening.

Papers to be discussed on Monday said: "The Time Square scheme always anticipated that the cinema and associated leisure uses will increase footfall to the town centre and the potential economic, growth, investment and benefits for our town centre, its businesses and general profile are significant.

"In commercial property development terms, a cinema among other uses is often used as an anchor for a scheme.

"As well as being the core focus, it attracts restaurants and other leisure uses to the location.

"During this increased marketing campaign, interest was received from a niche leisure operator who specialise in family focussed activity centres.

"The operator is a premium quality brand within the leisure sector wishing to roll out a newer concept in family focussed leisure." The identities of the new operators will be confirmed at a later date.
