SIX car showrooms in Warrington were hit by vandals with dozens of vehicles damaged in a spate of attacks.

Windows were smashed and wing mirrors damaged during the violence.

In the early hours of Saturday, 31 vehicles were damaged at the Skoda showroom on Winwick Road.

Police say five other premises were hit in the early hours of Thursday.

Between 2am and 5am, a number of vehicles on the forecourts of dealerships in Winwick Road and Ireland Street were vandalised.

As part of the enquiries for the incidents on Thursday, officers arrested a 16-year-old boy from Warrington who has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Inspector Ruth Atherton said: “We are making a number of enquiries in the area including checking CCTV and are asking anyone with information to contact us.

"If you were in the area of Winwick Road or Ireland Street in the early hours of October 31 or Winwick Road in the early hours of November 2 and have dashcam footage that may help us with our investigation I would urge you to contact us too.”
