MEET the paperboy who is still delivering the Warrington Guardian at the age of 80.
John Chesters, from Cinnamon Brow, has been working as a distributor and area organiser for more than a decade – having first taken on the role in May 2008.
And the great-granddad is still out delivering the paper every week, despite having turned 80 at the end of September.
But paperboy is not the pensioner’s only job.
He also has regular shifts at the BP petrol stations in Birchwood and Lymm.
John said: “I saw the job advertised and I don’t like sitting around. They said I could come for an interview, and that’s how it started.
“I start work on Thursday at 3am, because I like to get my eight rounds done before I go to work – because I have another job working in the petrol station as well. I’ve been doing it for a long time and I still play golf as well.
“If I packed it in, I’d just be sat there doing nothing.”
