THIS week in Yester Years we have gone back in our archives to find some great pictures of the last days of Warrington Baths.

These pictures shows the inside of the main pool at the Legh Street venue.

They were taken in 2011 shortly before demolition began.

It had been closed since 2004 and the land is now home to a medical centre.

The foundation stone was laid in 1865 and they were opened in 1866.

For thousands of children in Warrington, this was where they learned to swim.

It was once home to a large complex of pools used for both teaching and competition.

The venue was also used as a dance hall and was the home to a water polo team.

Among the features of the main pool were the changing rooms alongside the side of the pool.

Warrington remains without a swimming pool in the town centre to this day.
