TRANMERE Rovers League One campaign continues with what promises to be 'a tough tactical battle' against MK Dons tomorrow afternoon.

Having come up against Tisdale before, Micky Mellon knows the test his players will be in for against Paul Tisdale's team at Stadium MK.

In an interview on Rovers' website, Mellon said: "We know Paul Tisdale well because me and Jacko have competed against him for a number of years, so when you go against him you always have to be on the ball, so you enjoy it and it's always a good tactical battle when you come up against him.

"We'll try to concentrate more on our players playing well, we'll go down there and know the threats that MK Dons possess as we played against them a couple of times last year, so we know it will be a difficult game.

"Every day is important for us because it is an opportunity for us to get better.

"The games are a measurement of that improvement because that is ultimately what it is about, and that is how good we are in a game.

"We work hard during the week in between games, trying to see where the improvements are and what need to be made, and we'll go into another against Milton Keynes which is another opportunity for us to see where we are as a football team.

"Everyone wants to win, and my job is to create a winning team and we are trying to work forward all of the time.

"We still have a lot of work to do. We need to be better at the things that we work on all of the time, that’s the facts. Football is about winning, so that’s the job, I have to go out on the grass and keep trying to improve the players and keep moving them forward, in order for them to be competitive every week.

"There has been improvement, there has been some great improvement in some areas, so we have to acknowledge that, but we have to win games, and we are keen to keep working hard in order to try and do that."
