AN emergency nurse has created a musical showcasing the important work which goes on behind the hospital curtains.

Mark Jeffers, from Orford, has worked in the emergency unit at Warrington Hospital since he was a student nurse.

After more than 20 years in the field, Mark wanted to show people what really happens behind the scenes of the busy hospital department, all while raising money for charity.

Emergency- Tales from the Trollies will be shown at St Gregory's High School.

The 43-year-old said: "Everyone has a story, and the show is just a few instances of what I have been involved in or colleagues have been involved in for real.

"I think the show is my way of acknowledging both my nursing career and those I have worked alongside.

"We are one big family, doing a really hard, important job."

The production follows Sam, a newly qualified nurse, on her first day in the fictional Sandford Hospital emergency department, as she meets with staff, patients and relatives.

Mark explained: "The trilogy is designed to entertain and also give our audience the chance to learn what magnificent support groups and charities are available, as well as raise vital funds.

"The stories are all based on real events, and we have had technical support and advice from our charities to ensure we get the stories as authentic as possible."

Funds raised from the project will go towards the Armed Forces Community Support Hub, Dementia UK, Halton Haven Hospice and St Rocco’s Hospice.

Each of the four charities have helped support Mark in developing his characters, who range from an ex-soldier with PTSD to a young woman with terminal cancer.

Mark hopes the production will now help spread awareness of the work these charities carry out every day.

Emergency- Tales from the Trollies will be shown on Friday, November 15 at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 and can be ordered by visiting buytickets.at/emergencythemusical.
