A SUSPECTED burglar was arrested after a chase involving the police helicopter.

Officers arrested a teenage boy in Old Hall following the pursuit on Sunday night, but a second suspect managed to flee.

Police spotted a Kia Picanto which was stolen during a burglary in the Warrington area on Friday, October 25, on the M62 eastbound near to junction nine at Winwick shortly after 10.30pm on Sunday, October 27.

The vehicle failed to stop for officers, with a police chase continuing through the Westbrook and Old Hall areas.

Two occupants fled the car on Nansen Close in Old Hall, with the front seat passenger – a 16-year-old boy – arrested at the scene on suspicion of burglary.

He has since been released under investigation.

But the driver of the vehicle managed to escape officers and remains at large.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Officers were made aware of the stolen vehicle at 10.31pm on October 27 as it travelled on the M62 between junction nine and junction eight – the car was pursued by police along with support from the police helicopter.

“The vehicle failed to stop for officers, and the occupants decamped from the car on Nansen Close.

“The front seat passenger, a 16-year-old boy, who had decamped from the vehicle was arrested at the scene on suspicion of burglary.

“He has been released under investigation.

“Another occupant inside the car remains outstanding.”
